At Deptford Park Nursery we promote a safe and nurturing environment, enabling children to grow in confidence as individuals and develop an understanding of kindness and respect towards others. We do this through providing a creative, broad and fun play-based curriculum. The environment and experienced staff aim to foster children’s natural curiosity, encouraging them to become critical thinkers who embrace the challenges they meet.
We offer two nursery intakes in September and January, children start Nursery the term after they turn three. We offer morning part time places only (15 hours).
Nursery times are Monday to Friday 9.00 am – 12 noon.
If you wish your child to attend our nursery, we recommend you complete our Nursery application form when your child is 2 – 21/2 years old. the application is available upon request from the school office or by downloading the form from the link below.
Please note – if you attend our Nursery this does not mean automatic admission to a Reception place. All parents/carers must apply for a Reception place though the central admission procedures detailed in the Reception Admission section. There is no right to appeal to the nursery.
Deptford Park takes 90 children into our three Reception classes each year in September.
The Local Authority (London Borough of Lewisham) co-ordinates all applications for Reception places. The application process is open from September each year and the deadline for applications is January.
Applications must be made online by registering with www.eadmissions.org.uk or through a link on
www.lewisham.gov.uk/admissions. You may choose up to 6 schools either in Lewisham or in any other borough. In order to proceed with an application you will need to provide proof of address and proof of parental responsibility with your application. A list of documents you need to provide can be found in the document below;
We arrange tours of our school during the Autumn term for prospective parents/carers and we are always pleased to answer any queries. We offer a tour every Wednesday at 9.30am (this may be done via zoom or some other medium during the current pandemic – please call the school office on 020 8692 4351 for up to date details).
Once you have been offered a place here by your Local Authority, you will be contacted and invited to a welcome meeting with our Headteacher and our Early Years co-ordinator. At this meeting you will learn about our school in more detail and how you can help prepare your child for starting school, this will also give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We also offer “stay and play” sessions during the summer term preceding your child’s start, these give you the opportunity to look around our reception classes and meet our team.
Our admission policy follows the guidelines set out by Lewisham Authority. Children are admitted under the following criteria
- Children ‘looked after’ by the local authority
- If they have a brother or sister already attending Deptford Park
- Distance to school
